Plzeň, known as Pilsen in English, is the birthplace of all pilsner beers. This day trip covers a variety of topics – beer production, liberation by the US army at the end of WWII, and the fascinating history of the town. We will visit St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral and climb up to the top of the highest church tower in the Czech Republic to see the town from bird’s-eye view. Next, we will go to the Great Synagogue and learn more about the life of the Jewish community in this rich industrial town. The highlight of our tour will be a private tour of apartments styled by the famous Czech designer Adolf Loos. He designed these private apartments in the 1930s, and they were only recently opened to public.
