Let me introduce myself – my name is Jana Pilná and I am the founder, owner and head guide of the Absolutely Prague Travel Agency. I have been a tour guide since 2014, and over the years my job has become my passion.
My story:
I was born and raised in the historical Old Town of Prague, which is full of legends and history. These cobblestoned streets and their stories shaped my future. My fascination with the tales of my hometown led me to an official certification course for tour guides by Prague City Tourism. I am excited to carry on a tradition as the third generation of tour guides in my family. Moreover, I was born on February 21st which is the International day of tour guides. I believe I had no other choice than becoming a dedicated tour guide.
I received an MA in Tourism at the University of Economics in Prague, including studies at the University of Northern Colorado in the US. Next, I did an internship with Czech Tourism in New York City, where I had the pleasure of representing the Czech Republic at the New York Times Travel Show. Then I followed my big passion for culture and history and earned my second MA in Theater Studies at the 33rd oldest university in the world – the Charles University in Prague.
When I’m not designing and conducting tours, you’ll most likely find me at the theater, ballroom dancing, or in the kitchen baking something sweet. I also love to travel whenever I have the chance – I have been to the US, Canada, Israel, China, Australia, Fiji, Egypt, Maldives and many European countries, so I understand what travelers need in a new city. Of course, I’m always excited to come home and pamper my beloved pets.
Qualifications:
I am a fully licensed guide of Prague and of the Czech Republic (licensed by Prague City Tourism) and of the Jewish Museum in Prague. I am also honored to be an official guide of the Czech National Theatre, the Estates Theatre, the State Opera and the Municipal House. I have worked with both local and international travel agents and tour operators as well as companies like Venice Simplon-Orient-Express or Czech Tourism.
