Absolutely Theater Tour

This tour was designed for theater lovers, theater students and those who want to get to know Prague and the Czech Republic from a different angle. We will visit the oldest theater building – the Estates Theater (1783) – where Mozart once performed. Next we will admire the beauty of the Czech National Theater (1883), which stands as a symbol of the Czech National Revival. Then we will wander around the State Opera (1888). Let me tell you about the fascinating role of theater in Czech history its role during the Austro-Hungarian times, during Nazi occupation, and about the importance of theaters during the Velvet Revolution. We will talk about artistic personalities like Václav Havel, Jiří Voskovec, Jan Werich and Karel Čapek, and the story of Laterna Magica in 1958. All of these topics will be covered during a half-day driving tour of about 4 hours.

The tour can also be extended into a full-day (8-hour) driving tour. We can add a visit to the National Marionette Museum in order to learn more about puppetry, an example of intangible Czech heritage protected by UNESCO.

    This is a driving tour only. We will have a comfortable car with a private driver available during the whole tour.

     There are several extra fees for special entrances into the individual theatres as well as for the Marionette Theatre.
